The mission of Family Consultation Service of the Diocese of Long Island is to provide social services throughout the entire Diocese as a helping arm of the Bishop in partnership with local parishes and deanery clergy in the exercise of their pastoral ministries.

Family Consultation Service (FCS) is committed to pastoral and compassionate use of the professional skill and experience of its staff. Our philosophy is to strive to provide opportunities for reconciliation, healing and emotional growth. We see ourselves as a social agency with spiritual foundations in as much as we regard the client as an individual, a dignified and infinitely valuable child of God.

While FCS provides a host of programs throughout the diocese on a non-sectarian basis under government contract (location and telephone numbers are under Program and Contact Numbers), our network of Church Based Programs are at the heart of our service delivery system. The Church Based Programs throughout the four counties are principally funded through Episcopal Charities, individual contributions and client fees.

In 1970 our network of Church Based Programs was started through the efforts of four parishes. In order to meet the unmet needs of the parish and community, our network has expanded throughout the Diocese. FCS has continued to provide a wide variety of social services to individuals and families who are geographically located outside the area of major FCS facilities. These satellite offices are located throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. Working in partnership with the clergy, the Director of the Church Based Program is able to develop and staff programs and services tailored to the specific needs and demands of the local parish and community.
