All resolutions to be considered for action by the Convention
shall be submitted in writing (or by facsimile 516-248-1616)
to the Secretary of the Convention, via mail to 36 Cathedral
Avenue, PO Box 510, Garden City, NY 11530 or via email
to nancy@dioceseli.org,
no later than midnight, Thursday, October 16, 2008.
Please refer to the guidelines below when preparing
resolutions.

All Resolutions must be submitted
in writing and signed by a Convention Delegate.

Resolutions shall contain no
"whereas" clauses.

Following the body of the Resolution,
there should be an explanatory paragraph (not
to exceed 75 words) indicating why and how the
diocese should address the issue, what expenses
are involved, if any, and a proposal for how
the budget should be modified to address that
need given the "balanced budget" constraints
of the Diocesan Canons.

Resolutions may "request"
or "urge" the Bishop to take an action
but cannot "direct" the Bishop to
take an action which is within his discretion
to perform or not.
