"I still have a great deal to learn about Trinity Church, but after only a month, I am particularly impressed with the active engagement of parishioners in the life of the wider community and the world," Grifo said. "I will do all I can to provide attentive pastoral care and serve as a resource person. It will be great fun to live in lovely Northport too." "Pastor Grifo has been a blessing to Trinity," said the church's senior warden, Barbara Wasilausky. "Our annual meeting was a memorable event because of the timeline Pastor Lynne prepared, based on her research into our history. Parishioners old and new learned things that they had never known about Trinity, and we all had a chance to share our memories. We have been very blessed indeed to have Pastor Lynne's assistance and guidance in our search process." In earlier positions Grifo was interim program director for the Episcopal Church Foundation, and was associate coordinator of the Office for Ministry Development on the Presiding Bishop's staff in NYC at the Episcopal Church Center. She worked with Episcopal and other denominational staff members around the country promoting leadership development, ministry in daily life and theological education for lay people. She also participated in writing guidelines for exchange of clergy with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and produced websites for grassroots ministry and theological education. Before becoming a priest, Grifo, a native of Brooklyn, was a senior urban planner engaged in environmental studies and on the staff of a housing development firm in Brooklyn and represented NYC as a development coordinator for a major waterfront project. |
