Long Island Deputies in the House of Deputies business session that approved Father Larry Provenzano's election as Diocese of Long Island Bishop Coadjutor. (To the right and behind Fr. Provenzano is the Rev. Nelson Pinder, of the Deputies' Hearing Committee from S.E. Florida.) The affirmative vote was achnowledged by sustained applause as the Long Island deputation presented Father Larry to the house. Father Christopher Hofer's blog has this comment: "As Vice-Chair of the Deputation, my face was beaming as I had the privilege of escorting, along with Deputy Valarie Crosedale, Chair of the Deputation, followed by the rest of the deputation, Fr. Larry to the dais to receive the congratulations of the House of Deputies. A standing ovation of cheering and smiling deputies proved that in the midst of anxiety, faces centered upon the Holy Spirit’s work can and do turn to Christ. Faces shined today in the House of Deputies."
Father King, photographer, said: "I figured that if it had been Western New York, we would have loved to have a photo of our deputation with our Bishop-Elect at the front of the House of Deputies. So that's why I got one for you all. Hope you like it."

Provenzano Presented to Convention Hearing Committee July 8 Article by Lynn Collins The Rev. Richard Brewer, president of our diocesan Standing Committee, presented Father Larry Provenzano. And three Deputies affirmed Provenzano's election: the Rev. Canon Dr. Lynn A. Collins of the Joint Oversight Committee for the Election of a Bishop Coadjutor; Diocesan Council member and long time "daughter of the diocese," the Rev. Deacon Dr. Betty Belasco, who also served on the Search/Nominating Committee for Bishop Coadjutor; (She spoke about the process of election.) And, Valarie Crossdale, Chair of the Long Island Deputation and member of the Joint Oversight Committee. (She spoke of the Lay response to the election.) Father Provenzano spoke of "Taking the Show on the Road," and thereby being among the people in the Diocese of Long Island, whom he "has fallen in love with." He also spoke of "being the shepherd, a shepherd who walks beside the sheep and guides them into a new place in ministry." Also, one "witness" addressed the Hearing Committee, John Andren, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Diocese. The hearing room was filled with members from the diocese who are volunteers at the convention or who are attending the Episcopal Church Women Triennial Meeting.
