DIOCESAN NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bishop Walker calls on the diocese to respond to Iowa floods.

June 22, 2008

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Once again I am appealing to your generosity.

These past weeks we have been made all too painfully aware of the power of nature to ravage and destroy the lives our brothers and sisters both at home and abroad.  The cyclonic activity in Myanmar, the earthquake in China and now the devastating floods in our American heartland have brought misery to untold numbers of people.

As Episcopalians, we can be proud because Episcopal Relief and Development has been on the front lines in each of these tragic situations.  ERD responds in our name to bring hope to the hopeless.  People in the Diocese of Iowa and the neighboring dioceses in Illinois need your help.

Let me now urge you to do again what Long Islanders have done many times before  - give and give generously.
