GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN - The sounds of live music and the smell of good food filled the air Saturday, September 29th at the 11th Annual Kent Street Festival sponsored by the Church of the Ascension.

About 2,500 people visited the festival this year, which featured rides and games for children, freshly baked goods, vendors selling everything from knick-knacks to religious items, and lots of fun.

Festival-goers were also entertained by three live bands -- Midnyte Sunn Orchestra, NuMillennium and The Mondays -- as well as by local musician Guillermo de la Luz and MANI, a new chamber music group in residence at Ascension.

Stephen Leddick and Ken Pawlukiewicz who co-chaired the event, said, "It was the most successful Kent Street Festival to date."

Festival proceeds benefit, in part, the parish's historic preservation fund, to help preserve Ascension's historic buildings.
