More than 45 people joined weekday Evening Prayer at St John's of Lattingtown, followed by more than 60 people of all ages attending a Parish India evening as part of celebrating the gift of Lent.
Delicious Indian food was shared and Indian music, video and photography were part of the experience.
Father Simon Foster, the rector, gave all participants a booklet of poems he had written while on a pilgrimage in January in Northern and Central India. His presentation focused on the vibrancy of the cultures and religions he experienced.
The Assistant Rector, Father Michael Sniffen, spoke about his experiences during two recent visits to India as well. He mentioned, in particular, how inspired he was by meeting with Christians from the Dalit communities of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The evening finished with the sharing of the light as a symbol that all persons are in need of more light as they journey through life.
