Youth and movies go together like popcorn and soda. Add a unifying theme, strong Christian messages, discussion questions, fun activities, and you’ve got a weekend at the movies!
And that is exactly what the Cathedral’s Rite 13 Youth group did on January 19 - 21, 2008.
The group, which consists of 7 to 9th grade students, attended a 3-day Weekend at the Movies held at Camp DeWolfe under the adult leadership of Charlie Janoff, Joan Hughes, Kristen Ochtera, Fr. Joseph and Deacon Connie.
The retreat was based on two movies, Antz and A Bug’s Life.
The retreat theme was, “Whom do we follow and when do we lead?”
The Youth learned about being a leader. And, they examined what the Bible says are the qualities of leadership and studied the lessons of Jesus when he said, “In order to lead you must first be willing to follow.”
In the last session the group examined how we are all connected and must work together in order for society to function.
