The Nearly New Shop ministry has been a thriving outreach project for the past 49 years. We have a group of very dedicated ladies from within our parish community and from without.
We have the opportunity to meet many of fine people – many of whom are not members of the Cathedral or are from out of the area. In fact, 95% of all the individuals who bring us their clothes to sell either as a donation or on consignment are not members of the Cathedral family.
How then do these people hear about us? Simple! Word of mouth! Quite a few of both our sellers and our buyers have been coming for many years and today their children and the children’s children come to see what bargains they can find.
Too, many times the Drama Departments of neighboring schools come to us to see what they can use in their yearly productions. Why, we even have a woman who comes in to buy wool skirts which she turns into Teddy Bears.
Our gently used and even some new garments are for men, women and children. We also offer shoes and handbags. The shop is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We are always looking for help, so come, visit the shop and while you are there, volunteer some of your time, meet some nice people and have some good conversations. The money raised by the shop is donated to the Cathedral for what ever the most pressing current need.
