Brother Tom Carey moves from Little Portion to San Damiano Friary, California

 

Brother Thomas Carey, a Franciscan Brother who has been guardian of Little Portion Friary at Mt. Sinai, NY, is moving to San Damiano Friary in San Francisco.

While at Little Portion Brother Tom was also priest-in-charge at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Deer Park, and Assistant Minister Provincial. 

He speaks Spanish and has been in minisry with the community of migrant workers on Long Island.  He is also writes songs and is a performer.  He had a unique Internet radio ministry while at Little Portion.
 
At San Damiano Friary the brothers are engaged in urban ministries on the streets, in jails, hospitals, nursing homes and hospices.  The friary is also the base for brothers going off on mission tours, leading retreats, workshops and other programs.

San Damiano Friary is the home of Brothers Jude, Richard Jonathan, Robert Hugh, Jonathan Guthlac, Eric Michael, Simon and Maxmillian Kolbe, and now also Thomas Carey.
