From Easter Sunday until Pentecost pray about new ministry opportunities in our congregations and in the diocese and make a special Eastertide contribution to the Alleluia! Fund. The offerings will be gathered in parishes on Pentecost Sunday, May 23.

Here are some examples of new ministry goals and initiatives:

  • Explore and use new ways to reach and serve college-age young adults.
New ministries such as in Red Hook, Brooklyn, (see the March issue of The Dominion) are developing ways to engage these youth at a time in their lives when they are at personal crossroads and seeking direction. Alleluia!
  • Reach out to unchurched, including recent immigrants.
The Great Neck Cluster Ministry is recruiting multi-lingual clergy and volunteers to serve new populations, such as Asians, who have numerous native languages, as they transition to new life in America and in the church. Alleluia!
  • Match current physical resources to local needs in new ways.
In Wading River, for example, there is currently no Episcopal Church but Camp DeWolfe’s Saint Luke Chapel could be outfitted to welcome and serve as Wading River’s Sunday Chapel. Alleluia!

Members of the diocese can make the spirit of Pentecost manifest in new ministry efforts across Long Island.

Bishop Provenzano said, “Our hope is that each and every Episcopalian in the diocese will give a dollar a day over the Great 50 Days of Easter in a daily thank offering.”

Please note: The Alleluia! Fund accepts only Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards.
